If you are a pet person, which many of us are, you have your favorite animal. Some are just dog people or just cat folk and cant understand why their friends and family don’t feel the same way. I love animals and have had cats, dogs and birds all my life.
I am unashamedly a cat lady – probably bordering on the crazy at times and although I love dogs, I just love the felines that bit more.
Note: This is a bit of a fun article –Please dont take too seriously and send me hate mail! Cat lovers/owners enjoy, dog owners, its your turn next week!
So why do I think they are better than dogs? Read on and see if you agree.
Cats are more easily entertained. They don’t rely on us human folk to entertain them constantly. Kittens are a bit more demanding of time but then I am a sucker for a kitten so I don’t mind. Dogs want you outside throwing balls for an infinite amount of time. Dogs need walking ( this is good for exercising yourself and social interaction but bad if you are time poor and its cold and wet) Cats are quite happy just to chill out and do their own thing.
Cats smell better than dogs. Dogs, when they are wet, have a very distinct smell. Not that good on the nose really. They often have a rather average breath – often due to eating some less than desirable item outside – and seem to enjoy sharing it with you. Cats can have a bit of fishy breath occasionally but they normally don’t make it their mission to let you know about it.
Cats don’t get over-familiar with houseguests. Come to my house and you will be lucky to see even one of them! Ever been to a friend’s house and their dog greets you by jumping up, licking, noses where they just are not meant to go and that panting and drooling over your new outfit. It’s fabulous that they are friendly but over friendly can be a bit off -putting.
Cats don’t chew your shoes.
We know dogs love to chew. That’s great if they use their toys but it seems much more fun to grab a favorite pair of shoes and demolish them. Cats can be left with a wardrobe full of shoes and they wont even bother giving them a second thought.
Cats don’t keep everyone up with barking. Dogs bark for many reasons. Some are bored and lonely and will bark in protest at being left alone. Strange noises or people can incite a barking frenzy. We can’t blame them if an unwanted intruder comes however! People wont complain about your cat miaowwing keeping them awake .
Cats don’t eat their own poo. Dogs seem to really love it and then want to come and tell you all about it. Say no more
Cats respect their toys a lot more. A cat plays with it’s toys and then leaves them for the next time they want to play. A Dog plays with its toys then proceeds to go and demolish them. Can be costly for doggy parents – replacing toys constantly.
Cats keep bugs and insects under control. Cats love it when bugs come in .. just another “toy” to play with and they hunt them and eventually either eat them or kill them and leave them for you. My cat, Jamaica, loves to assist me in spider control. She kills the huntsman spiders if they venture inside. I find them curled up and dead, mostly before I even know they were inside. This is fantastic for someone who has arachnophobia.
Cats don’t need to go out to the toilet.
Picture this, you are on couch, your favorite show on telly, its chilly outside and your dog lets you know its time to go out. You have to get up, don some shoes and go out with them. Brrrrr. Cats simply get up, go to the litter tray and voila – done! They cover it all up and return to what they were doing – most likely napping.
So that’s just nine reasons I think cats are da bomb and outdo the pooches in the pet stakes. I am sure many will disagree and my family will be some of them. They don’t know where my love for the felines comes from- I think I must have been a cat in a previous life but doesn’t matter.. to me cats rock it!
What do you think? Are you a cat person or a dog person?
For those that are dog people and constantly have to buy those new toys for their dogs, what better place to be than right at my website where plenty of toys are available. If you are a cat person and your feline is your pride and joy, I also have plenty of cat toys to amuse them for the time they want to play. Why not grab them a new toy for Santa to bring down the Chimney.
